Abstract

This paper discusses the trajectory of the Brazilian Federation of Scientific and Academic Associations of Communication-SOCICOM as an important political actor and promoter of institutions in the field. It seeks to highlight the importance of this type of institutional organization for the social recognition of the scientific field and the struggle for a democratic and inclusive society.

Ex-presidente da União Latina de Economia Política da Informação,  Comunicação e de Cultura- ULEPICC-Br e da Federação Brasileira das Associações Científicas e Acadêmicas da Comunicação-SOCICOM

Ana Regina Rêgo, Universidade Federal do Piauí

Journalist from UFPI. Specialist in Human Sciences at PUC-RS, Master in Communication and Culture by ECO-UFRJ. PhD in Communication Processes from UMESP, with a doctoral internship at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and post-doctorate in Communication and Culture from ECO-UFRJ. Former President of the Media History Researchers Association-ALCAR and of the Brazilian Federation of Scientific and Academic Communication Associations-SOCICOM.
