Abstract

Rádio Tabajara AM is a state-owned broadcaster in Paraíba, Brazil, which has been operating for 86 years and is about to start operating in Frequency Modulation. This paper analyzes the migration process of Rádio Tabajara AM based on Prata and Del Bianco (2018), who establish three axes for investigating the migration process: the broadcaster's assessment of the migration process, the changes resulting from the migration and the expectations. The pillars listed in this work underpin the study for this paper. This is qualitative research, using a questionnaire, semi-structured interviews, observation on the station's website and listening to the AM band. By migrating to FM, Paraíba's pioneering broadcaster is reconfiguring itself within the dynamics of the current media ecosystem, seeking to innovate without neglecting its history and preserving its memory.
