Abstract

The Wiphala, or fabric/flag that flutters in the wind, has been legitimised as an identity symbol of the high Andean indigenous peoples and has spread to other peoples and territories, representing plurality as a harmonious unity of diversities. Socially, it expresses the harmonious encounter between societies and with nature. Politically, it represents the indigenous and popular movements for decolonisation and inclusion. And in its historical development, it is transhumant, constantly renewing itself in the paths of the word that builds Vivir Bien/Buen Vivir or the good life in plenitude.
