Abstract

The article investigates the production of senses mediated by the Brazilian telenovela in the cultural identities of children of Brazilians living in Japan. The theoretical framework is mainly based on the Cultural Studies and Bakhtin’s language studies. The investigation is an excerpt from the doctoral research whose data collection was carried out in Japan between May and November 2017. The methodology used was qualitative research with the discussion group technique. The research showed that the cultural differences between Japan and Brazil determine the universe of these adolescents who live between the two worlds, the Western and the Eastern
