Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) data annotators often face precarious working conditions involving overload and low wages. This article investigates the representations and narratives that AI creates around data annotators to understand how AI platforms formulate and reject these narratives. A content analysis, supported by discussions on data justice, reveals concerns about how algorithms portray these professionals, often contributing to their invisibility, distortion, and expropriation.
