Abstract

In the 1930s, the Portuguese publishing house Romano Torres, by the hand of its most important publisher, Carlos Bregante Torres, began publishing the Colecção Azul [Blue Collection], of literature categorized as romantic, aimed above all at a female audience. The books were mostly of French origin, with two authors as the main figures: Max du Veuzit and Magali. As the most successful book series in the Romano Torres’ history, the Colecção Azul was one of the most important in the publisher’s catalog and was certainly the one that most influenced its financial health.
