Abstract

In times of metamorphosis in communication and work relations, Rafael Grohmann encourages the constant updating of the concepts used to describe these transformations. The lexical and meaning dispute has been a common feature in his research since he wrote about freelance journalists (without social and labor rights). In his analyses, the researcher combines sociology, communication and geography in his current research that seeks to reflect on the value production chain of Artificial Intelligence. By participating in research networks in different parts of the world, the assistant professor at the University of Toronto has dedicated himself to understanding the factory floor of artificial intelligence and data workers within the scenario of political and economic dependence in Latin America. During the conversation, the researcher announced the launch of books, articles, and participation in conferences to discuss the AI production network. The interview shows this dynamism of the research and of Grohmann himself, who plays in various positions in the arena of scientific investigation by combining methodologies, objectives and specific networks around themes, problems and reflections characteristic of our time. This conversation is also an invitation to understand reality and its phenomena through the perspective of communication and work.
