Abstract

Based on primary data research and interviews with workers at Amazon distribution centers, Alessandro Delfanti discusses in his book "Amazon: workers and robots" (Delfanti, 2023) the impacts of Amazon's particular business model on the cities and villages where they're located, the labor relations they impose, and their relentless pursuit of maximizing control over employees. With the use of monitoring technologies, the author presents the emergence of an ultra-technological strand of Taylorism, and the struggles of workers for better working conditions in one of the largest companies in the world.
