Abstract

This article maps the origins of risk communication in Brazil, considering its interdisciplinarity and the intensification of climate risks (Beck, 2011, 2018). Based on systematic bibliographic research, it identifies the evolution of the area, highlighting the communication approaches. The objective is to investigate its development to broaden the debate in Communication in the context of disaster risks. The results show an initial and dispersed academic production, marked by a managerial approach. In this sense, an expanded debate is proposed for conceptual, epistemological and methodological improvement.
