Abstract

Decolonial thought, in dialogue with the Latin American critical tradition, offers keys to rethinking Communication theory in the face of datafication and artificial intelligences. It is argued that digital infrastructures update the instrumental rationality of modernity and reinforce the coloniality of power, subjecting life to algorithmic calculation and deepening inequalities. Technodiversity is proposed as a decolonial horizon capable of relativizing technological universalism and affirming the coexistence of multiple cosmo-technics, outlining paths toward a Communication theory capable of confronting algorithmic homogenization.
