Abstract

This study investigates the interface between Science Communication, aging, and diversity, focusing on the experiences of older gay men in Brazil from the perspective of "silenced old age." The objective is to analyze how the transition from traditional media (1980-1990) to contemporary digital platforms impacted the construction of memory and access to scientific knowledge regarding health and HIV/AIDS. Methodologically, the research is based on data triangulation, using Thematic Content Analysis and an Intersectional Analytical Matrix. The documentary corpus includes biographical testimonies and a confrontation with primary sources, such as the 1988 Epidemiological Bulletin. Results indicate that while traditional media operated under institutional stigmas and silencing, digital media functions as a device for social appropriation and symbolic reparation. The study concludes that methodological rigor combined with an intersectional perspective is fundamental for inclusive science communication, capable of promoting dignity and citizenship for historically marginalized groups.
