This article examines the figure of the first lady as a gender technology and a form of communicational mediation in Brazilian politics, challenging the androcentric canon of Political Communication. Drawing on feminist epistemology, situated knowledges, and the concept of coloniality of gender, it explores how gendered regimes of visibility co-produce authority, legitimacy, and recognition. Through an analysis of the Instagram profiles of Rosângela “Janja” Lula da Silva and Michelle Bolsonaro, the study investigates the sociotechnical architectures that organize processes of validation, surveillance, and disciplining of bodies. It argues that the first lady operates as a symbolic infrastructure of the political system within platformized communication environments.
