Abstract

This article aims to evaluate the 64 episodes of the second version of the series “Carga Pesada”,
broadcast by TV Globo from 2003 to 2007, based on the theory of folk communication (Beltrão,
1980; 2004). The text analyzes how social issues are related to the daily lives of the characters
Pedro and Bino. In addition to issues from the truck driver universe, the article infers that the
themes most discussed in the five seasons of the series are those involving relationships, family
dramas and police issues. Stories of superstition and religious beliefs also prove that the series
works as a representation of the Brazilian cultural context.
