Abstract

The Alasitas festival is an important part of Bolivian folklore. This celebration, based on the
purchase and sale of miniatures, has a particular characteristic: miniature newspapers that
with humor and graphic and textual satire reveal problems of Bolivian society. During 2021,
due to the pandemic, the traditional Alasitas festival had to be postponed, however, the
newspapers were present on the usual date (January 24) and with their characteristic humor,
they portrayed what happened in Bolivia during 2020, a year that was not only marked by
COVID19, but also by political and social problems.
