Abstract

The ability of high school teachers and students, from public and private schools in Brazil, to identify fake news was analyzed. We also observed the possible impact that educational content related to misinformation can offer respondents when analyzing potentially false information. The results point to the insufficiency of simply explaining what false information is and how to check it, and suggest the need to develop long-term plans that encourage critical thinking about the role of the media and information consumption.
