Abstract

This article intends to expose some discursive marks arising from the mediatization of female sexual roles, focusing on the mothers and wives of incarcerated men. For this, we define “femininity” as the guiding process of female socialization, using mainly Margarita Pisano (2004), Rose Marie Muraro (2017), Audre Lorde (2019) and Patricia Hill Collins (2019). We also bring the concept of “secondary prisonization” (Megan Comfort, 2008) to discuss the role of institutions in the lives of these women, analyze some pages self-organized by them on Instagram, and understand the reproductions and resistance to sexual roles.
