Abstract

The text discusses decolonial approaches to the communication of music employing the concept of amefricanidade. The introduction refers to criticism of modernity carried out in the global North. In item 1, there is an archeology of decolonial studies and the political-cultural category “amefricanidade” is debated. Next, methodologies of crossroads and approaches about performances are discussed. Section 3 problematizes communication studies of music and defends cartography as a heuristic method. It is concluded by listing some actions to decolonize communication and musical investigations.
